News — Traditional Industries Upgrade is a Shortcut to Further Successful Development of Kaluga Region

A regular session of Kaluga Council for Coordination of Industry and Technology Development took place in Kaluga. The development of regional traditional economy state support mechanisms was high on the agenda.

The meeting was attended by directors of a number of Region’s production facilities, representatives of the regional union of industrialists and entrepreneurs, Tatyana Rozanova - president of Kaluga Region Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Ruslan Zalivatsky - Minister for Economic Development, and Anatoly Artamonov, - Governor of Kaluga Region.

In his introductory speech Anatoly Artamonov said that Kaluga Region was very interested in development of a number industries, which for many years had been forming the foundation of the regional economy. Today the regional government has every reason to believe that such traditional economy companies will demonstrate rapid progress in the field of their assets modernization. In the recent years the market has been witnessing an increased competition for investments, new production facilities were launched in the region. “Traditional economy entities will have to go through deep modernization in terms of their HR policy and technologies they use. This is a necessary precondition for further successful development of the region”, the Governor stressed.

The meeting participants unanimously agreed that the creation of an efficient integrated system for industrial sector support was a vital necessity. One of the possible ways to address this issue is to adapt the existing foreign investors’ motivation schemes to apply them to the traditional economy companies.
